Vale Greg Kary, Senior Geologist

Greg Kary

It is with deep regret that we advise of the sudden passing of Mr Greg Kary, our much loved and respected colleague and friend.

Greg leaves behind his cherished wife Lala and three children, Alexander, Nicholas and Edward, of whom he spoke so proudly.

Greg has been with Red Metal from the beginning, and his warmth, humour, kindness and energy will be greatly missed.

Greg Kary was a truly great geologist and his contribution over the years as our Senior Project Manager has been invaluable.

Greg will always be in our thoughts.

The company invites comments from anyone who knew Greg and who wish to provide some words for this memorial page

I went to Junior/Senior high school with Greg, and he was an awesome person. I had a crush on him in Grade 8? - it was his sweet nature and gentle manner that stood out. He was just a 'good' guy and I can see by the comments that he didn't change at all. My condolences to his wife and children - I can only imagine what a huge loss this must be. Sending big Canadian hugs your way.

Greg & I grew up together in Kimberley, BC (Canada) neighbours & bestfriends, went through school together and enjoyed exploring the great outdoors any chance we could. Greg loved his life in Australia, Lala & the boys of course his first love, but his work, now that he loved and was very proud of. Over the years Greg shared amazing stories of his geology & many adventures. Thank you to his Company & coworkers for allowing this amazing man to enjoy working at a job he loved so much. Condolences to Lala, Alexander, Nicholas & Edward and to all that had the honor of knowing Greg. We will truly miss this special guys. Love, Lorne & Leora MacKinnon

I was blessed and privileged to have worked with and known Greg Kary for almost 20 years. His engaging smile, steady common sense, positive and cheery disposition, infectious laugh, positive and placid nature were a gift and a tragedy to no longer be enjoyed. I don't think I have ever known such a gentleman and gentle man who gave 100% of his attention to whomever he engaged with, never spoke an unkind or cross word of or to anyone. Many lessons to have been learned from this amazing individual who was dedicated to his family, friends, career and love of life. Vale dear Greg.

I worked for Greg when he was running one of the most congenial field camps I've ever been in at Selwyn/Starra. We got through a lot of work and all enjoyed our time there - so much of it down to Greg and the way he ran the project. He is greatly missed.

Spent a single day with Greg and his family in 2009. That was long enough to recognise a kind and loving man. I was very saddened to hear this news. Our sympathies to Lala and the boys.

What a tragic loss for everyone who knew and loved him. His kindness and humor, intelligence, thoughtful approach, and genuine nature, touched so many people. His loss leaves a hole in all of our lives. Sending our love and sorrow for their loss, to Lala and the boys.

To Greg's family my greatest sympathy, his passing is a great loss, he was a true friend, work mate and someone who made the world a better place simply because of his caring manner, he was a true gentleman.
To have shared part of my working life with Greg was an honour and a privilege. I will miss our chats in the office, his holiday photo's and updates on the place down south

Words can’t describe what a shock it was to hear of Greg’s passing.
Extending deepest sympathies to Greg’s family, friends and work colleagues, particularly those at Red Metal. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Greg on and off for nearly two decades, no matter what the circumstances he was positive, happy and someone that you could always rely on. His great smile and kind considerate humble nature will be greatly missed.
